Program Description

Event Details

Join us for the return of Bright Star Children's Theater for "From Anansi to John Henry", A celebration of folktales, tall tales and oral traditions from Black History for your youngest audiences. Taking the role of the trickster, Anansi is one of the most important characters of West African, African American and West Indian Folklore.  While John Henry is an American folk hero about the freedman who was said to have worked as a ‘steel-driving man.’ Other tales in the show come to us from the celebrated Gullah Tales and oral traditions that have created a beautiful fabric of memorable characters and valuable lessons. (Grades PK-5th)"

This program is in collaboration with the Henderson County School. There will be activities and giveaways. Registration is not required.
